Our clients' brief

Our clients were keen to create a garden as striking as the new floating deck that would lead to their front door. They wanted a lush feel that would include natives, grasses and also some pretty florals but weren’t sure how to create the harmony and layers they were after.

Our design response

This garden was a lovely design opportunity where a dramatic floating deck from the street to the front door could be leveraged to enhance lush, textured layers in the surrounding sunken garden zones.

Large, spherical blooms of Limelight Hydrangea and Sedum Autumn Joy sit high above a blend of swaying grasses and phormium, providing visual interest from spring right through to autumn. Wiry muehlenbeckia provide a satisfying visual next to lush rounded leaves of ligularia.

Japanese maples and nikau provide a contrasting top canopy and some privacy from the street, and pleached titoki do the same along the side boundary. 

We hugely enjoyed working with these clients and look forward to seeing this garden mature into a magical entrance to their home.
